Stoneager Fred Flintstone (John Goodman) and his buddy Barney Rubble (Rick Moranis) have been working at the rock mine, Slate Company, for a long time. One day, they get a chance to take a test to see if they are management material. Fred’s answers aren’t very good, but Barney knows how badly he wants a promotion and switches his tests. Now, Fred’s scores land him a new executive job. His wife, Wilma Flintstone (Elizabeth Perkins) and Barney’s wife, Betty Rubble (Rosie O’Donell) are as close as Barney and Fred. Soon, the new economic divide between the two families starts to strain the friendships. Furthermore, Fred is being set up for embezzlement at work by a scheming co-worker and secretary. Now Fred has to save his reputation and his friendship.
